Today I started thinking about archetypes, mythology, and master characters within writing. (Yeah, I know – that’s a lot for a Wednesday, right?) However, thoughts of archetypes have been on my mind for a few years now.
So as I was approaching the two-mile mark on my run tonight, thinking of all the different archetypes, I took a long hard look at the sky. Here is what I saw: soft pinks, creamy blues, glittering golds, and glowing patches of orange sunlight streaming energy down on me. At that moment all I wanted was to sprout wings like a goddess and soar into the heavens. It was breathtaking, encouraging, and inspirational. Being a part of the evening sunset is a large part of why I run.
It’s quite interesting to study the archetypes and even more intriguing to find yourself within the archetype – if you dare to be so bold ;-). There are 16 archetypes and hopefully your curiosity will spur you to research a little more about these gods and goddesses. Here we go:
Females: 1. Demeter 2. Hera 3. Hestia 4. Isis 5. Aphrodite 6. Artemis 7. Persephone 8. Athena
Male: 9. Apollo 10. Ares 11. Hades 12. Hermes 13. Dionysus 14. Osiris 15. Poseidon 16. Zeus
I may joke about knowing another’s archetype, but one can never really know about their neighbor, however – I am pretty sure I know mine. Eeeek!
This weekend I’m heading to the coast for a few days to enjoy the wild and fierce waves of my Northern California Coast in order to fuel my mind and body.
